Pioneers raced or paraded past us today on their bikes or scooters on their way for some ice cream. Each year the children that parade up our street get less and less as do the spectators. A few adults lined the path and threw candy at the pioneers as they passed. I dished out ice cream, Russ visited with buddies.
A pioneer parade sounds like a fantastic idea- what a sad sounding note that it is growing less popular.
ReplyDeletei remember that! i remember how cute your little kids were all dressed up and how triumphant they all looked on their wheels. i am saddened that the people in your neighborhood are doing that less and less. it is a fantastic way to celebrate something thats a little harder to do something for. i dont know if i worded that the way i wanted to, but there you have it . . .
